Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Tours is the culmination of a dream of two friends who have had a lifelong passion for great food and great wines. I suppose that's why they both choose to live in the beautiful Hunter Valley, Australia's premier wine region and regional Australia's highest concentration of excellent restaurants.
Our tours commenced in October 2008 and we haven't looked back since, our aim has always been to take small groups of people (maximum 10) and show them some of the best wine and food you will find in the Hunter Valley, but do it in a light-hearted way. Our tour partners were chosen because they have great product, passionate staff, offer an experience unique to 'Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Tours' but above all; they know that you are here to have a fun day out.
Fat Bloke 1 is a retired dentist who made a new life for himself in the vineyards area some 25 years ago and together with his wife Ros operated one of the region's first boutique hotels. Most locals know him by his nick name 'Sir Lunchalot'. Peter is well known and has many friends in the region who instantly recognise him whilst he is on his way to yet another lunch, since his car has personalised numberplates that say: LUNCH, summing up his favourite past time.
Fat Bloke 2 moved to the Hunter Valley in 1998 after a career in hotel management, specialising in food & beverage. For the past 10 years, Jan has published the local Dining Out and Cellar doors magazines. The publishing business was sold in 2010 and since then I have concentrated on the tours. Something I love and am passionate about. I have also published 2 food & wine matching recipe books, you will find some recipes on the home page.
Together we have an outstanding knowledge of the food and wine scene and have many friends in the industry.
We now have 3 luxury vehicles and will pick you up from your Hunter Valley accommodation to commence your tour; we love showcasing what our region has to offer and it is always a pleasure to have you on board.
Because we only take small groups, our tours can be highly personalised to include any special requests you may have. And for our overseas guests; we always find our kangaroo!
